Medicaid Dispensing Fee Increase Delayed

The increased dispensing fee approved in this past Texas legislative session is on hold awaiting CMS approval.

Medicaid is not just a state program. Although the legislature and governor write and approve dispensing fees for pharmacists participating in State Medicaid Vendor Drug Program, any changes require federal approval. The state has submitted the plan amendment approval request.

Once that approval comes through, the increase to $7.50 per prescription will be paid retroactive to the Sept. 1, 2007 implementation date.

American Pharmacies will notify you as soon as the increase is approved.
