on Fighting the Medicaid Rx Carve-In
|
American Pharmacies (APRx) and the Texas Pharmacy Business Council (TPBC) will host a two-hour meeting in McAllen tomorrow (10/12) to help South Texas pharmacists learn more about our ongoing efforts to fight a flawed transition to managed care for Texas Medicaid drug benefits.
The meeting will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12 in room 101 B/C at the McAllen Convention Center at 700 Convention Center Blvd. The Convention Center is located just north of the intersection of South Ware Road (FM 2220) and the U.S. 83 expressway in McAllen. There is no charge to attend and any interested community pharmacist is welcome.
The meeting will cover:
- The status of HHSC's Medicaid waiver request;
- A discussion of APRx's managed-care lawsuit against HHSC;
- An update on MCO/PBM activities in the managed-care transition;
- A report on TPBC's legislative & congressional efforts to fight managed care; and
- What you can do to help our efforts.
APRx General Counsel Amanda Gohlke Fields will discuss APRx legal activities and TPBC's legislative/political efforts. APRx commercial litigation attorneys Miguel Rodriguez and Don Taylor of Taylor Dunham LLP will provide an update on the APRx lawsuit against Texas HHSC and on our other legal challenges to Medicaid managed care.

VDP Maintenance to Shorten Payment Cycle
| |
Because of scheduled maintenance to the Vendor Drug Program's point-of-sale claim system next week, Texas pharmacies will be unable to submit claims from midnight on Thursday, October 13 to 2 a.m. on Friday, October 14. As a result, the weekly payment cycle will end a day early at midnight Wednesday, October 12.
Pharmacy payments dated October 17, 2011, will contain claims for six days rather than the usual seven-day claim cycle. This affects all claims for Medicaid, CHIP, CSHCN and KHC.The following week's payment, dated October 24, 2011, will contain an eight-day claim cycle. Subsequent payments will be back on the usual seven-day cycle beginning with payment date October 31, 2011. Please visit txvendordrug.com for a schedule that breaks out the affected weeks.
A second maintenance window in October will stop claim submission from midnight Saturday, October 15 to 8 a.m. Sunday, October 16.
